Baby Driver wins Audience Award at SXSW 2017

The action-crime film received the honour at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.

Following on from its world premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver has won the SXSW Headliner Audience Award.

As reported in Deadline, the film beat strong competition including James Franco’s The Disaster Artist and David Leitch’s Atomic Blonde to take home the prize.

Baby Driver tells the story of a talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort), who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Eiza González and Jon Bernthal, and opens in cinemas on June 28, 2017.
