Him And Her returns for a second series on BBC3

BBC3 has commissioned a second series of comedy Him And Her – the most successful sitcom launched on the channel to date.

Outgoing BBC3 controller Danny Cohen and comedy controller Cheryl Taylor have ordered an additional episode for the second run, taking it to a 7 x 30-minute series.

Kenton Allen, chief executive of Big Talk, will once again produce the series, which stars Sarah Solemani and Russell Tovey as leads Becky and Steve. The other cast members will also be returning.

Filming will start next year, but a transmission date has not yet been set. The show is written by Stefan Golaszewski.

Allen said: “The tremendous support that BBC3 has given to a lo-fi romantic comedy in which nothing much ever happens has been amazing. We are delighted that their faith has been repaidwith a brilliant reaction from audience and critics alike, and we can’t wait to return to the tea, toast and unwashed bed linen of series two.”

The series debuted on 6 September with 660,000 viewers, or 4% of the audience share, which it maintained throughout the series. Consolidated figures, including digital views via iPlayer, topped 2.1 million.
