The Midlands Job Centre opens its doors once again for a brand new second series this September as The Job Lot moves to its new home on ITV2.

Sarah Hadland (Miranda, Horrible Histories) and Russell Tovey (Him & Her, Looking) both return as Trish and Karl with Laura Aikman (Casualty, Lemon La Vida Loca) joining the show as new Deputy Manager, Natalie.

The impressive ensemble cast also return; Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey), Tony Maudsley (Benidorm), Jo Enright (Life’s Too Short), Martin Marquez (Hotel Babylon), Angela Curran (This is Jinsy) and Adeel Akhtar (Utopia).

This series also sees a variety of guest stars walk through the job centre’s sliding doors with Meera Syal as a highly successful CEO of a Midlands hot tub company, Keith Duffy as a telephone engineer with a roving eye, Dylan Edwards as Karl’s flatmate, Mark Benton as a job centre advisor who finds Angela irresistible and Rosie Cavaliero as Trish’s rival job centre manager.

The Job Lot is a Big Talk Production from the writing team of Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis and Stuart Lane. Executive Producers are Big Talk Chief Executive, Kenton Allen (Rev, Him & Her, The Town) and Hannah Pescod (Rev). Imogen Cooper (Horrible Histories) is Producer with Luke Snellin (My Mad Fat Diary) as Director.

The Job Lot - Specials

A new 6 x 30 minute situation comedy from Big Talk Productions for ITV; about life, love and long-term unemployment.

The Job Lot, starring Sarah Hadland (Miranda) and Russell Tovey (Him & Her), is set in a busy West Midlands Job Centre, and focuses on the relationships between the people who work there, and the people who don’t work there, or anywhere else for that matter.

Series 1 boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) Tony Maudsley (Benidorm) Martin Marquez (Hotel Babylon), Angela Curran (This Is Jinsy), Jo Enright (Life’s Too Short) and Navin Chowdhry (Teachers).

The Job Lot from Big Talk Productions is written by the writing team of Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis and Stuart Lane. The Commissioning Editor for ITV1 is Myfanwy Moore, and the Executive Producers are Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice. The series was commissioned following a successful pilot produced by Hannah Pescod (Rev), and directed by Richard Laxton (Him & Her).

Kenton Allen said “the moment I read the script I immediately thought The Job Lot was a comedy idea that captured the spirit of these times and could be the answer to ITV’s ambitions to reignite primetime comedy on ITV1.
