Edgar Wright’s upcoming action-crime film Baby Driver had its first public screening on Saturday 11th March at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX, where it garnered rapturous applause and a stream of positive reviews.

The film, dubbed ‘the first action-musical’ by many who saw it, was described by IndieWire as ‘a brilliant exercise in high style and a rush of big ideas’, with The Telegraph saying ‘Wright pulls it off with impressive aplomb’ in their 4-star review. The Hollywood Reporter commented that the film, starring Ansel Elgort as a getaway driver who drives to the beat of his personal soundtrack, would ‘delight the director’s fans’ and Vulture proclaimed, ‘Everyone at SXSW Agrees Baby Driver Is Awesome’.

Shortly after the film’s SXSW debut (which was followed by a Q&A between moderator Robert Rodriguez, Edgar Wright and the film’s stars Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm and Eiza González), the film’s trailer and poster were released online, to the delight of eager fans worldwide:

Baby Driver tells the story of a talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort), who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
