Cold Feet and Timewasters multi-nominated at the RTS North West Awards 2018

Each series, both of which will return in 2019, has been nominated across a range of drama, comedy and performance categories.

The Royal Television Society has nominated Big Talk shows Cold Feet and Timewasters in multiple categories for its 2018 North West awards, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in Manchester on Saturday 10 November.

Cold Feet, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary after a triumphant return to ITV screens in September 2016, has been nominated for Best Single Drama or Drama Series, with drama performance nominations for James Nesbitt, John Thomson and Fay Ripley, while Timewasters has received nods for Best Comedy, Best Breakthrough Talent for Daniel Lawrence Taylor and Best Performance in a Comedy for Samson Kayo.

Having seen two new critically-acclaimed series launch on ITV following the show’s relaunch in 2016, whereupon it was one of the channel’s most successful drama launches of the year, Cold Feet has continued to be recognised by awards bodies, being named Best Drama by the Virgin Money Giving Mind Media Awards in 2017 and receiving numerous additional nominations across drama and acting categories. Written and created by Mike Bullen, Cold Feet stars James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst, Fay Ripley and John Thomson as the nation’s favourite ‘fifty something’ friends as we follow their lives in Manchester.

Timewasters has gone from strength to strength since it launched to over one million viewers last year. Following a successful first series, which was the most watched new comedy in 2017 for 16-24s on any digital channel in the UK, and being described as ‘a breath of delightful fresh air’ by Heat and ‘charmingly odd, provocative, stylish and silly’ by Sunday Times Culture,  the series has gone on to be nominated for Best Comedy Series by BAFTA and won Daniel Lawrence Taylor the RTS national award for Breakthrough Talent as well as a nomination in the same category at the Edinburgh TV Awards.

Both series will be returning in 2019.
