Diana & I is the story of four distinct and singular narratives set during the week following Princess Diana’s death on 31st August 1997.
Covering the tumultuous week from that fateful Sunday to Diana’s extraordinary funeral, the film follows four separate, yet interlinked stories in the style of Robert Altman’s Short Cuts. Each drama is rich in character: Jack, a nineteen year old gay man who loses his mother to cancer the night Princess Diana dies; Yasmin, a thirty-three year old wife and mother who is inspired by Diana & Dodi’s relationship; Mary, a struggling Glaswegian florist, who sees death as a business opportunity; and Michael, a twenty-five year old rookie journalist who is on his honeymoon in Paris when Diana’s car crashes a few hundred metres from his hotel.
All four stories fold in and out of one another’s narratives through shared experience and culminate in and around Hyde Park on that final, unforgettable funeral day.
